Can I run two Calor Gas appliances off one cylinder?

Another of the frequently asked questions at Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealers is "can I run two Calor Gas appliances off one cylinder?"

The answer is yes you can. On a Calor Propane cylinder you need a Twin Outlet for propane. This is a brass connector which has a POL end to screw with a left hand thread into the cylinder valve and then it has a "Y" shape with two female connection points for the POL connectors on your propane regulators for your appliances. Of course each appliance needs it's own regulator.

A wallblock manifold will also do the job if you need a fixed installation, setting up in much the same way.

How long will a 15kg Calor Gas refill last on a 3 burner mobile heater?

Another of the frequently asked questions at Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealer is   "how long will a 15kg Calor Gas refill last on a 3 burner mobile heater?"

The answer is that on the lowest setting of 1.5kW a 15kg Calor Gas refill will last 146 hours, on the middle setting of 3kW about 105 hours and on full about 48 hours.

Of course the reality in use tends to be different, entering a cold room one usually puts the heater on full for a while before turning it down when the room has warmed up.

Mini heaters such as the Thurcroft and the Calor Mini are powered by the Calor Gas 7kg cylinder.
The heat settings are 2kW and 1kW. On full the refill will last 47 hours and on 1kW it will last 95 hours.

Does Calor Gas "go off", losing effectiveness over time?

Another frequently asked question at the Calor Gas Principal Dealer Towler & Staines is "does Calor Gas go off", losing its effectiveness as time passes.

The answer is that Calor Gas which is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) presented as butane in blue bottles, propane in red bottles and Patio Gas in green bottles with a red top does not deteriorate with age.

It is important that cylinders are stored in an upright position for safety reasons. Also, butane (blue) cylinders can be stored indoors provided you have no more than 4 x 15kg cylinders. Propane and Patio Gas must be stored outdoors.http://www.towler-staines.co.uk/shop/123-calor-gas

Nutribullet now available to improve your strength, energy and vitality.

Towler & Staines are proud to announce the stocking of two amazing new products from the USA, the Nutribullet and the Dessert Bullet. These products are not Calor Gas related in any way, but we have chosen to sell them owing to the interest in juicing by a senior member of our team. He believes that drinking juice cocktails regularly has greatly improved his health and wellbeing.

There are a number of juicers on the market but after research we strongly believe that the Nutribullet is the best. It completely breaks down ingredients into a pulp free delicious smoothie. It even bursts open seeds, cracks through stems, and shreds tough skins to help you consume the normally wasted nutrition.

The powerful 600W exclusive cyclonic motor which achieves 20,000 rpm is the key to the effectiveness of the Nutribullet forcing all the fruit and or vegetables through the turbo extractor blades. The unit is sleek and compact, just 14 inches (355 mm) high including a tall cup.

The media have reported that Katherine the Duchess of Cambridge is a Nutribullet user.

Get in touch with Towler & Staines today and become a Nutribullet user giving you strength, energy, and vitality for a full and active life whatever your age.

How often should I change my Calor Gas hose?

At the moment our blogs are concentrating on answering frequently asked questions from our Calor Gas customers. One such question relates to how often to change gas hose.

The answer is that LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas ) hose should be changed every 5 years to ensure safety in use. Nowadays, it is best to use orange hose as it has a manufacture date on it. In reality it will need to be changed in less than 5 years because there is a period when it is held in stock by the retailer. If your appliance still has black hose, it is highly likely that it needs changing.

LPG hose is made from neoprene, not rubber. This is because LPG attacks rubber and such tubing would rapidly become unsafe when used with Calor Gas.

It is also recommended that your Calor Gas regulator is changed every ten years to ensure safety.
Incidentally you should never use a petroleum based grease such as Vaseline or lubricating grease with an LPG (Calor Gas) regulator as the gas reacts unfavourably with other petroleum based materials.

If on doubt contact the staff at Towler & Staines Calor Gas Dealers who will be happy to help.
