In recent years gas barbecues are increasingly designed for propane gas, possibly because butane gas is not available for consumers in a number of countries including the USA and Canada. The original Calor Propane cylinders have a female threaded valve which requires a spanner to make a gas tight connection.
With the arrival of the Patio Heater and the increasing popularity of gas barbecues it was decided that a clip on regulator with a gas contents indicator was much more user friendly and, most importantly, safer. Hence the launch of Calor Patio Gas a few years ago which is propane gas with a clip on connection and a contents indicator. It is in a green and red cylinder and comes in two sizes: the 13kg which is ideal for Patio Heaters and larger barbecues (four burners and more); the 5kg which is suited to smaller barbecues and the recently introduced Grill 2 Go is specially designed to fit on it.
The clip on regulator is designed to pass a greater quantity of gas than the small propane regulator and is therefore suitable for even the largest barbecue or patio heater.
