Calor Patio Gas: the best cylinder size for your barbecue explained.

We are looking forward to a “Barbecue Summer”. Nowadays, most barbecues are powered by Calor Patio Gas. This is because it has a safe clip on regulator connection which means you do not need a spanner. The gas is propane which gives a better cooking performance than butane..

This year Calor Gas has introduced greater numbers of Patio Gas 5kg cylinders into the system to improve availability for barbecue owners. Most barbecues in the UK have less than 3 burners and the 5kg cylinder is ideal for these customers.

Essentially, for barbecues with 3 burners or less the 5kg Patio Gas cylinder is the best option.

The 5kg Patio Gas cylinder is easier to handle, transport and store at home after use. It has the built in Gas Trac Contents Indicator so you can avoid running out of gas during your barbecue. It is estimated that this size of cylinder will last for around 14 barbecues (around 2 years use).

However, barbecues with 4 burners or more, large patio heaters and the Flame Tower do require a 13kg Patio Gas cylinder.

You can exchange a 13kg for a 5kg or even in a 5kg for a 13kg Patio Gas cylinder at no cost. However, the Calor exchange policy states that Patio Gas cylinders are in a group of their own and cannot be exchanged for other sizes. If you have a Calor Butane cylinder or a different size Calor Propane cylinder you will need to surrender it for a refund and then take out a hire agreement for a Calor Patio Gas.

Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealer in Bradford and Keighley has good stocks of Calor Patio Gas and the staff will be happy to give advice on the best cylinder for your needs.
