The regulator for the Calor 4.5kg butane cylinder has a left hand thread and operates at 28mbar. You need a Calor spanner to ensure that it is tightly connected. This regulator has a neoprene washer which should be regularly replaced. The washer is also available from Towler & Staines.

The regulators for the Campingaz 907, 904 or 901 cylinder screw on to the top of the cylinder in a vertical plane with a right hand thread and have an on/off knob attached.

Blue regulators are for butane gas although some of the clip-on ones for the Calor 7, 12, and 15kg butane cylinders may be grey in colour. These regulators simply slot over the top of a vertical valve and click safely into place.


The  red regulators are for propane gas in red cylinders and can be connected to the cylinder using a Calor spanner with a left hand thread.The smaller size propane 37mbar regulator is ideal for powering a single appliance. Within the range there is a  37mbar regulator with a hand wheel instead of a brass screw connection. This is ideal for a smaller appliance which needs to be regularly connected and disconnected.

If you need to power multiple appliances or  heat quantities of water you need a regulator which passes more gas with 4kg and 5kg regulators available. The staff at Towler & Staines will be happy to advise on the right regulator for the job.

Also in the propane regulator range is the Automatic Changeover Valve from Lifestyle for power using 2, 4 or 6 by 47kg or 19kg Calor cylinders. This ensures continuity of supply in use. All the user has to do is check the gauge regularly and when the indicator flags phone for replacement cylinders to be delivered whilst the remaining full cylinders continue the supply.

Calor Patio Gas is a propane gas but has red clip on regulator which easily clips on to the vertical valve on the cylinder.
