SILSDEN GAS ALERT 

The gas main in Silsden has been declared out of action until Tuesday 3rd April, and residents will have no mains gas until that day (at the earliest).

Towler and Staines Ltd, 85 Bradford Road Keighley BD21 4BL( near to the Keighley Fire Station and Asda Supermarket) have a variety of portable LPG  heaters in stock (see below).  Also, 2kw electric fan heaters from Kampa Bora at £19.99 are available.

A safety message for Calor Gas users from Towler & Staines.

Hopefully, Spring is on the way and our thoughts turn to our outdoor leisure pursuits. We believe that
now is the time for caravanners, motorhome owners and gas barbecue enthusiasts to examine their equipment before the season starts. For safety it is important to examine the gas hose to your appliance(s).

 LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas ) hose should be changed every 5 years to ensure safety in use. Nowadays, it is best to use orange hose as it has a manufacture date on it. In reality it will need to be changed in less than 5 years because there is a period when it is held in stock by the retailer. If your appliance still has black hose, it is highly likely that it needs changing.

LPG hose is made from neoprene, not rubber. This is because LPG attacks rubber and such tubing would rapidly become unsafe when used with Calor Gas.

It is also recommended that your Calor Gas regulator is changed every ten years to ensure safety.
Incidentally you should never use a petroleum based grease such as Vaseline or lubricating grease with an LPG (Calor Gas) regulator as the gas reacts unfavourably with other petroleum based materials.

Two new Cadac Barbecue models now in stock at Towler & Staines.

Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealers in Keighley and Bradford are pleased to announce the arrival in stock of two new Cadac outdoor cooking appliances.

The Cadac Grillo Chef 2 BBQ is a mid-sized, lightweight BBQ with an updated power burner with finely adjustable temperature control. It has an automatic piezo ignition to make lighting it a simple operation.The other features are that various combos are available, it has aluminium legs, a stainless steel stem, a removable fat pan with flame peep holes, a 37 centimetre cooking diameter on the BBQ grill  and includes a durable storage bag.

The Cadac 2 Cook 2 is a lightweight table top unit with 2 independent burners, each with automatic piezo ignition. This versatile BBQ comes with 2 pot stands, a flat plate and 1 ribbed plate to offer multiple cooking variations. The unit works on a gas cylinder and comes with a convenient carry bag for easy portability and storage, making it ideal for camping and caravanning. It has a steel powder coated lid and rubber feet to prevent slipping. It burns 151 grams of LPG per hour, weighs 4kg and has a cooking area of 2 x 625cm2.

The weather forecasters are predicting the coldest week of the winter next week. It may be a good idea to review the heating requirements of your home and if you have cold areas a Calor Gas mobile heater is the answer. Whatever size and type of Calor Gas or Campingaz cylinder you have you can rely on Towler & Staines to have the correct regulator for you.

Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealer in Keighley and Bradford have the LPG expertise to prescribe the correct regulator for you to use on your gas cylinder.

The regulator for the Calor 4.5kg butane cylinder has a left hand thread and operates at 28mbar. You need a Calor spanner to ensure that it is tightly connected. This regulator has a neoprene washer which should be regularly replaced. The washer is also available from Towler & Staines.

The regulators for the Campingaz 907, 904 or 901 cylinder screw on to the top of the cylinder in a vertical plane with a right hand thread and have an on/off knob attached.

Blue regulators are for butane gas although some of the clip-on ones for the Calor 7, 12, and 15kg butane cylinders may be grey in colour. These regulators simply slot over the top of a vertical valve and click safely into place.


The  red regulators are for propane gas in red cylinders and can be connected to the cylinder using a Calor spanner with a left hand thread.The smaller size propane 37mbar regulator is ideal for powering a single appliance. Within the range there is a  37mbar regulator with a hand wheel instead of a brass screw connection. This is ideal for a smaller appliance which needs to be regularly connected and disconnected.

If you need to power multiple appliances or  heat quantities of water you need a regulator which passes more gas with 4kg and 5kg regulators available. The staff at Towler & Staines will be happy to advise on the right regulator for the job.

Also in the propane regulator range is the Automatic Changeover Valve from Lifestyle for power using 2, 4 or 6 by 47kg or 19kg Calor cylinders. This ensures continuity of supply in use. All the user has to do is check the gauge regularly and when the indicator flags phone for replacement cylinders to be delivered whilst the remaining full cylinders continue the supply.

Calor Patio Gas is a propane gas but has red clip on regulator which easily clips on to the vertical valve on the cylinder.
