Towler & Staines celebrate 30 years at Bradford Calor Centre

Early in December 2019 Towler & Staines the Calor Gas Principal Dealer celebrated the 30^th anniversary of their purchase of the Bradford Calor Gas Centre business in Leeds Road from Calor Gas Ltd.


A lot has changed over the 30 years. In those days the business had a huge winter peak linked to the heating business and a small number of large industrial customers. Nowadays there is a summer peak linked to outdoor leisure such as barbecues, patio heaters and camping and caravan accessories. In the last few years Cadac barbecues have become partners with Towler & Staines for the exclusive supply of their spares. In the last 10 years through growth of internet business, social media and sales at motorhome and caravan shows Towler & Staines has become well known outside West Yorkshire. Staff turnover has been minimal and one of the strengths is their knowledge and experience in answering customer queries.


The industrial and commercial business, has remained strong over the years and is more significant now than ever. Air Products industrial gases, Air Liquide drinks dispense gases and Hobbyweld industrial gases have all been added to the portfolio over the years and sales of Calor Automotive for fork lift trucks have continued to grow.


Now Towler & Staines have a very large number of smaller customers across a much larger range of products on offer. It has been quite a journey but the business has grown owing to its willingness to adapt to the changing world and put customer care first at all times. Also the future is bright as Calor have already launched a Biopropane product and is actively developing eco- friendly products for the coming decade.

We stock a large range of propane powered blown air heaters. If you estimate the cube of the area you wish to heat our staff can recommend the right appliance for you by charting the kW of heat required to bring the temperature up to the required level for working in comfort.

These blown air heaters which need electricity to power the fan but the heat comes from propane gas. Towler & Staines offer 4 models from Master. The BLP11 model gives a 10kW output which consumes 0.8kg of propane per hour. The Master BLP17 adjusts between 11 and 15kW output consuming 0.8 and 1.07kg of propane gas per hour. The Master BLP33 is adjustable between 18 and 33kW output and on the highest heat output consumes 2.4kg of propane gas per hour. The largest model is the Master 53 which adjusts between 33 and 52kW output and on the highest output consumes 3.78kg of propane gas per hour.

Also for large areas the Bullfinch 1400 Space Heater has an output varying from 17kW to 25kW, and it does not need an electric fan it is simply propane powered using a cyclone effect to distribute the heat.
